Prof Ian Maber was reassuringly  highly clear and professional from the start.
I wish I had known of him and booked him first.       He very very kindly stepped into the breach when our comedy act became ill.

With just two days to go my first internet search brought up Ian whose profile fit like a glove our demographic and event tone. Old Roundtablers from 41 club plus guests including several members of the judiciary were all very complimentary.
It felt like inviting a friend to speak having Ian who also joined us for dinner. One judge described his style as “ convivial”
Thank you for saving the evening and turning it into one of our very best to remember

Ian gave his talk Laughing my way round the world an A to Z of amusing anecdotes and stories he has encountered on his travels in over 43 countries. He kept a full house of members laughing and highly entertained brightening up a rather wet miserable afternoon,I would certainly recommend him to give his talk to your members

. What a superb Orator is Professor Ian Maber “The Teller of Tales” . The talk that he gave us was “Only in India”, ( one of many he has  to offer). After his personal introduction, which illustrated the most prestigious and interesting career, in a world wide capacity,

Professor Maber delivered us a fully illustrated  talk on how a Briton sees India. We were all completely engulfed in the humour of his observations on everyday life,( not a dry eye in the house.) It is a long time since I have laughed so heartily, and  in so lighthearted a manner.
I have obtained his business card, and will hand it to the Speaker finders of my Ladies luncheon groups  for future reference.I will certainly not miss any talks that we may be lucky enough to secure.
I hope that you can obtain his services for our subsequent gatherings.
Again, please accept my thanks for the most enjoyable day.
Yours most sincerely,

Baroness Jessica Driffill

Professor Maber I found via another group who were singing his praises, and on enquiring managed to book him for one of our meetings.

His Talk was entitled 'Surviving the Sixties'.

Our senior group found him a very good story teller, with good graphics to enhance this nostalgic trip down memory lane.

We enjoyed it so much that he has a return booking with us later in the year. A good speaker with a world of knowledge and keeps you awake, and interested, well worth his fee.

I just want to say how much the ladies of Grantham Ladies Probus enjoyed your talk entitled "Only in India". It made me thankful that our summer temperatures never reach over 40C, and that we can travel safely on most of our roads and railways!!

Not only did you give us an interesting insight into your time there, but you certainly made us laugh.

We had a lovely afternoon and would like you to entertain us again please.

Kind regards,

From the comments received, I do know your talk was really enjoyed, and I do intend to book you again for 2024 when our new programme dates are finalised.

Well done and kindest regards - Rupert.

Ian

Only in India

Thank you for your excellent  illustrated talk to the first monday club the other day.

What members liked was the easy  presentation , the great humourous pictures  as we went on the journey and of course the linking narrative from yourself.

Somehow telling the story when it has happened to oneself adds a greater dimension.

It  served to add or reinforce some stories that members had heard about the huge continent and its ways.

As you know I have been asked by members to engage your services for later next year , which in due course when I plan Autumn 2017 I will contact you.

Regards

" "Laughing my way around the world" is a truly hilarious presentation and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

The technology is superb and we saw parts of the world that we are never likely to see in a lifetime.

It just brightened up the whole day.

Will be arranging another visit soon.

  • On behalf of Rochford Ladies we wish to thank you for a most enjoyable evening.
  • Your presentation was outstanding and left us 'gobsmacked'. We were captivated by your tales and humour. It's not every day you see so many old ladies smiling all at the same time. As Frank Carson would say, It's a cracker. We hope to see you again in the not to distant future.

  • Best wishes Rochford Ladies, Boston.

Hi Ian

Thank you so much for coming to entertain our group of mainly elderly visually impaired members at VI- SN (Visually Impaired South Notts).

Your talk was very entertaining and the musical interludes were received well and extremely appropriately placed. Although some of the members were unable to see your slide show of pictures to accompany your talk your description of what was on the screen did, I am sure, enable them to imagine the setting and put your words into context. It was quite evident by their interaction and responses that they were well entertained and interested.

"Laughing my way round the world" was a totally appropriate title for your exploits on your travels and  taking the listeners on a journey through the alphabet made them guess at what was to come next.

A great evening enjoyed by the members, committee and helpers alike. Thank you for entertaining us.

Chris Gardner - events organiser VI- SN ( Visually Impaired South Notts)

Hi Ian

On behalf of all the U3A members who attended yesterday’s meeting, I would like to thank you for a most entertaining presentation. I’m sure that many will raise a chuckle when something prompts them to remember some of your incidents. The changes from countries in your alphabet to items such as “lost in translation” was interesting, though by the time you got near the end I had worked out that X would be Xray.

Best regards

Lyall

  • Hi Ian,

  •  You visited our WI last thursday I and I am sure I can speak for all our members who throughly enjoyed your entertaining and light hearted presentation. I was watching our members reactions and they all appeared to enjoy what they heard and the way you presented same. Peoples comments were ,'When can we book him again.'
  • I think that says it all.
  • Many thanks.

Ian's talk Take Two took us into the amazing world of animation.

Ian was undoubtedly a well prepared

speaker with his own head mike, speakers and high definition projector and screen.

A brilliant speaker with huge experience and

command of his subject.

Look forward to seeing him  again  in December

Ian talked to us at our club  recently and delighted us with his observations of the sixties years , particularly as most of us had memories of the subjects and which were easily revived . This certainly made a change from the military stories which we are used to and I will be inviting Ian back to talk to us in a year or so .

Good Morning Ian, it was a pleasure to meet you, and the feedback was very positive.  Entertaining and informative were the most common comments.

I do hope we can book you for another talk in the future, until then, continue laughing around the world.

Radcliffe on Trent last night to give us a

talk on Surviving the Sixties.

Hi Ian,

Thank you very much for your presentation at our ladies meeting.

This was your second visit to us and just as entertaining as the first time.

The talk about 'laughing your way around the world' was very amusing,

and the 'toilet' humour went down particularly well -

not sure if that's a reflection on us or you?

You have certainly led a varied life and your enthusiasm bubbles over.

You certainly brightened up a dull winter's evening.

Best wishes

On the behalf of all of our members, I would like to thank you for giving such an entertaining presentation.  It was greatly enjoyed  by everyone, and gave a number of members food for thought when listening to grandchildren.

Thanks once again

We invited Professor Ian Maber to our Luncheon Club to hear his stories of Laughing Around the World and what a delightful afternoon was spent listening to many humorous stories complete with pictures so professionally shown.

Just what was needed to cheer us all.

We certainly did laugh the best tonic for us all.

 Thank you Ian.

Hope for a return visit in the future.
